Some places in NH have a lot more slate than others.

Have you noticed more slate roofs in towns like Keene NH? Or Exeter NH? This is because of the there age and proximity to the slate quarries of the time. In Keene NH you are going to see a lot of Vermont slate roofs. This is because the slate belt over by Poultney VT and NY are closer to this region. Vermont is still actively producing slate. In Exeter you are going to see a lot more Monson Slate. Monson Slate came from Monson ME. This stone is very hard and a great roof slate. Monson Slate in no longer quarried for roofing application.
